The forward slash menu is a keyboard shortcut that lets you quickly insert content into your meeting notes without clicking through menus or taking your hands off the keyboard. Type / anywhere in your note to bring up a searchable menu of all available formatting options, action items, talking points, integrations, and more.

How to Access the Forward Slash Menu

To bring up the forward slash menu, type a forward slash / anywhere in your meeting note. The menu will appear instantly, showing all available options.

Once the menu appears, you can either:

  • Scroll through the options to browse everything available

    OR

  • Start typing to filter and quickly find what you need (for example, type "action" to see action item options)

What You Can Add with the Forward Slash Menu

The forward slash menu gives you quick access to all of Fellow's note-taking features. Here's what you can add:

Basic Formatting

  1. Heading 1 - Large section headings for major topics

  2. Heading 2 - Subsection headings for organizing content

  3. Paragraph - Standard text blocks

  4. Bullet list - Unordered lists for ideas and points

  5. Numbered list - Ordered lists for sequential steps

Note Content

  1. Talking point - Add agenda items and discussion topics to keep meetings on track

  2. Action item - Create trackable tasks with assignees and due dates

  3. Section - Organize your notes with custom sections

Media and Embeds

  1. Record a video - Capture a video message or recording directly in your note

  2. Images & video strip - Upload and display photos, screenshots, or video files

Integrations

Import or create tasks and issues - Sync with your project management tools including:

  • Jira - Create or import Jira issues

  • Asana - Sync tasks with Asana projects

  • Linear - Import or create Linear issues

  • ClickUp - Connect tasks with ClickUp

  • Monday.com - Import items from Monday.com boards

  • Trello - Import cards from Trello boards

All integrated tasks stay synchronized between Fellow and your chosen tool.

Other Options

  1. Mention - Tag a teammate with @ to notify them and bring them into the conversation

  2. Link - Insert a hyperlink to reference external resources

  3. Shrug - Add a ¯\(ツ)/¯ emoji for those moments when you need it

Tips for Using the Forward Slash Menu

Filter by typing: You don't need to scroll through the entire menu. Start typing what you're looking for (like "action" for action items, "embed" for media, or "jira" for Jira integration) and the menu will automatically filter to show only matching options. This saves time and helps you find exactly what you need.

Stay in your flow: The forward slash menu is designed to keep you focused on taking notes. You can add any element without interrupting your typing to search for buttons, open menus, or navigate through toolbars. Just type / and keep going.

Use it anywhere in your note: The forward slash menu works in any Fellow note type - meeting notes, private notes, and shared note series. You can even use it in note templates to create reusable structures.
