Fellow's Linear integration connects your meeting workflows with your team's Linear project management, allowing you to create, import, and manage Linear issues directly from Fellow.

Note: this integration is available on our Team, Solo, Business, and Enterprise plans.

About This Integration

The Linear integration is a user-level integration, meaning each person on your team connects their own Linear account individually. This integration is useful for any team that uses Linear for project management, including Engineering, Design, and Product teams.

Who this integration is for

This integration lets you use Fellow for planning and discussion in 1-on-1s and team meetings, while keeping more granular issue tracking in Linear where it belongs.

What This Integration Does

Once connected, you can:

  • Sync a note to a Linear team: Link a specific note to a Linear team so that action items and issues stay in sync automatically

  • Create Linear issues from action items: Any action item you add in Fellow can be created as a Linear issue

  • Import existing Linear issues: Bring Linear issues into your Fellow notes for high-level planning or meeting discussion

  • Keep issues in sync: Due dates and status (complete/incomplete) stay automatically updated between Fellow and Linear

Connect Your Linear Account

Before you can sync action items or import issues, you need to connect your Linear account to Fellow.

Steps to connect

  1. Go to User Settings > Apps & integrations

  2. Scroll to the Automation section

  3. Click the three dots in the upper right corner of the Linear card then click Connect

  4. Review the permissions

  5. Click Authorize Fellow

  6. You'll see a confirmation notification at the bottom of the screen

  7. The Linear card will now show Connected

Sync Individual Action Items to Linear

You can manually sync specific action items from Fellow to Linear.

Create a new Linear issue from an action item

  1. Create an action item in Fellow

  2. Click on the three dot drop down at the end of line next to the avatar. Select Link to Linear

  3. Specify where you would like the information to go including the team

  4. Press Create issue (the button will turn purple once all the relevant info has been added)

  5. That's it! That action item will show up with an icon demonstrating that it has been synced to Linear. The status (complete/incomplete), the due date, and assignee will stay in sync with Linear.

  6. And you'll be able to see that issue in Linear

The action item will now show an icon indicating it's synced to Linear. The status (complete/incomplete), due date, and assignee will stay in sync between Fellow and Linear. In Linear, the issue will show as being created in Fellow.

Import an existing Linear issue

Bring existing Linear issues into your Fellow notes for discussion during meetings.

  1. Use the forward slash (/) menu and type Linear

  2. Search for the issue that you would like to import from Linear. Then select that issue from the drop down.

  3. Once you select the issue, you will then see a preview of the issue in Fellow complete with the assignee and due date (optional).

  4. Specify how you would like the Linear and Fellow status to match up.

    1. A Unchecked action item in Fellow corresponds to a ___ status in Linear

    2. A checked action item in Fellow corresponds to a ___ status in Linear.

  5. Press Import issue the button will turn purple once all the relevant info has been added

  6. That's it! The Linear issue will now appear in the note as a Fellow action item. The status (complete/incomplete), the due date, and assignee will stay in sync with Linear.

The Linear issue will now appear in the note as a Fellow action item. The status, due date, and assignee will stay in sync between both platforms.

Connect a Note to a Linear Team

If you have a specific note that corresponds to a Linear team and project, you can set up automatic syncing so all action items created in that note are automatically created as issues in Linear.

Steps to connect a note to Linear

  1. Visit the note you want to connect click the three dots in the upper right corner

  2. Select Settings from the dropdown

  3. Select Integrations from the sidebar then click Linear

  4. Select the Linear team you want to sync with the note

  5. Optionally, specify:

    • Project

    • Cycle

    • Status

  6. Determine the status mapping for action items:

    • Unchecked (incomplete) action items in Fellow will have the ___ status in Linear

    • Checked (complete) action items in Fellow will have the ___ status in Linear

  7. Click Connect

Once connected, all action items created in this note will automatically sync to your selected Linear team with the specified settings.
