If you accidentally deleted a calendar event you were invited to in Outlook, you can restore it from your Deleted Items folder. This process works for events where you're an attendee, not the organizer. Once restored, the event will reappear in both Outlook and Fellow, and any associated meeting notes will remain intact.
Important: This method only works for events you've been invited to and accidentally deleted. If you're the event organizer and cancelled the event, you'll need to recreate it instead.
When to Use This Method
This restoration process works specifically for:
β Use this method when:
You were invited to an event (not the organizer)
You accidentally deleted the event from your Outlook calendar
The event is in your Deleted Items folder
The event hasn't been permanently deleted yet
β Don't use this method when:
You're the event organizer (recreate the event instead)
You declined the invitation (RSVP "Yes" from the original invitation)
The event was cancelled by the organizer (it can't be restored)
You emptied your Deleted Items folder (event is permanently gone)
How to Restore a Deleted Outlook Event
Step 1: Open Outlook Mail
Navigate to Outlook (web or desktop app)
Click on the Mail section in the left sidebar
Step 2: Open Deleted Items folder
In the left sidebar, locate and click on Deleted Items
Look through the folder to find the deleted calendar event
Calendar events appear in Deleted Items just like emails when you delete them.
Step 3: Find your deleted event
Scroll through Deleted Items to locate the calendar invitation
Calendar invitations typically have a calendar icon and show the meeting title
Click on the event to open it
Step 4: Restore by responding "Yes"
In the deleted event, click the Accept or Yes response button
This adds the event back to your calendar
The event is now restored to your Outlook calendar.
Step 5: Verify in Fellow
After restoring the event in Outlook:
Return to Fellow
Navigate to the Meetings section
Click the manual sync button at the bottom of the calendar if the event doesn't appear immediately
The restored event should now appear in your Fellow calendar
Any meeting notes previously associated with this event will still be accessible.
What Happens When You Restore an Event
In Outlook:
Event reappears on your calendar
Your RSVP status updates to "Accepted"
Organizer receives notification that you accepted
In Fellow:
Event reappears in your calendar after sync
Associated meeting notes remain linked
You regain access to any agenda items, action items, or discussions
Alternative: If Event Isn't in Deleted Items
If you can't find the event in your Deleted Items folder:
Option 1: Ask the organizer to resend
Contact the meeting organizer
Ask them to resend the calendar invitation
Accept the new invitation
Option 2: Check original invitation email
Search your email for the original meeting invitation
Open the invitation email
Click "Yes" or "Accept" to add back to calendar
Option 3: Restore from Outlook's Recoverable Items (if recently deleted)
In Outlook, go to Deleted Items folder
Click Recover items deleted from this folder at the top
Find the event and click Restore
This works for items deleted within the last 30 days
Troubleshooting
Can't find the event in Deleted Items
Possible causes:
Event was permanently deleted
Deleted Items folder was emptied
Event is older than Outlook's retention period
Solutions:
Try recovering from Recoverable Items (see Alternative methods above)
Contact the meeting organizer to resend the invitation
Search your email inbox for the original meeting invitation
Event restored but not appearing in Fellow
Possible causes:
Fellow calendar hasn't synced yet
Calendar connection has an issue
Solutions:
Click the manual sync button at the bottom of the Fellow calendar
Wait a few minutes for the automatic sync to complete
Try disconnecting and reconnecting your Outlook calendar in User Settings > Apps & Integrations
I'm the organizer and cancelled the event
Cause: Organizers can't "restore" cancelled events - they need to recreate them.
Solution: Create a new event with the same details and invite the same attendees. See Create a new event.
Meeting notes are missing after restoration
Cause: If the event was deleted for an extended period, the note association may have been broken.
Solution: Contact Fellow Support with the meeting details and we may be able to help reconnect the note.
Restored event shows different time or details
Cause: The organizer may have updated the event after you deleted it.
Solution: This is expected - accepting the invitation adds the current version of the event with any updates the organizer made.
