Signing Up with a Personal Email

What to know before creating a Personal Workspace in Fellow

Written by Dev Team
Updated this week

Fellow supports sign-up with personal email accounts, as long as your email provider is Google or Microsoft. This means addresses ending in @gmail.com, @outlook.com, or @live.com are all supported.

When you sign up with a personal email, Fellow creates a Personal Workspace for you. Personal Workspaces work a little differently from workspaces linked to a company domain - so it's worth understanding what's included before you get started.

Tip: If you have a work email through Google Workspace or Microsoft 365, we recommend signing up with that instead. You'll get access to the full Fellow experience, including work calendar integration and domain-based sign-up for your team.

What's Different About a Personal Workspace

Because a Personal Workspace isn't linked to a specific organisation or email domain, there are a few things that work differently:

  • No domain-based sign-up: teammates can't find and join your workspace automatically. You'll need to invite users manually. Learn how to add and manage users here.

  • No guest users: everyone you invite to your workspace is treated as a full member, not a guest.

  • Personal calendar only: you can connect your personal Google or Microsoft calendar, but not a work calendar. This means meetings from a work account won't automatically appear in Fellow.
