Managing your relationships in Fellow helps administrators keep the workspace organized and configure rules or policies for certain teams. This guide covers how to add direct reports, change your manager, and manage your 1-on-1 relationships regardless if you are an admin or a member.

For members

Add Direct Reports

As a manager, you need to add your direct reports in Fellow to manage your relationships effectively. There are several ways to do this depending on your situation.

If the user doesn't have a Fellow account

  1. Your workspace logo on the top left corner

  2. Select add teammate

  3. Enter the email address of the new user

  4. Confirm the email is correct

  5. Select your reporting relationship with the new user

  6. Choose direct report if they're a direct report

  7. Click Send invite

Note: if you do not see this option, contact your administrator regarding licensing.

If your direct report already has a Fellow account

Option 1: Add them yourself

  1. Go to User Settings

  2. Under the Profile tab, scroll down to the Direct Reports section

  3. Click the Add Direct Report button

  4. Search for the name of your direct report

  5. Click Add

Option 2: Have them add you as their manager

Ask your direct report to:

  1. Go to User Settings

  2. Select your name as their manager from the dropdown menu

Option 3: Contact your workspace administrator

Your workspace administrator can update reporting relationships from the Manage Users page.

Adding or Changing Your Manager

You can add or change your manager at any time in your user settings. You can do this by:

  1. Go to User Settings

  2. Under the Profile tab, find the Manager dropdown

  3. Select your manager from the dropdown menu

For administrators

Workspace administrators can update this manually or choose to do a user sync with an external tool such as an HRIS, Google Workspace sync, or Microsoft 365 user sync. Alternatively, admins can update managerial relationships in bulk via a CSV file. For a full walkthrough, visit our Manage Users article.
