Namely integration

How to prepare a report on Namely to synchronize user information to Fellow

The Namely integration lets you import high-level employee information and reporting structure directly into your Fellow workspace. Once set up, the sync runs twice daily - so user information, manager relationships, and workspace membership stay up to date automatically without any manual maintenance.

Note: The Namely integration is available on the Enterprise plan. This integration is set up with the help of the Fellow team - follow the steps below to get started.

Step 1: Prepare your Namely instance

Create a report

Start by creating a report in Namely that includes all the users and fields you want to import into Fellow. At minimum, the report must include the following fields:

  • GUID (You can also use an Employee ID field if your data is 100% clean, but we recommend GUID)

  • Full Name (you can also optionally send first + last name)

  • Email (make sure it is the work email)

  • Job Title

  • Department

  • Reports To Email (or, some other unique reference to the employees manager)

Important: The report must be filtered to show only currently active employees who should have access to Fellow. If you only want to sync a subset of your users, apply the appropriate filters when generating the report.

Once the report is working in Namely, copy its URL. It will look something like this:

https://mycompany.namely.com/reports/XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX

Create a Personal Access Token

Fellow uses Namely's API to pull the report. To do this, a Personal Access Token (PAT) from Namely is required.

  1. Log into the Namely user account you want to use for this integration. The best practice is to use a dedicated account with API access for integrations

  2. Confirm the account can access the custom report created in the previous step

  3. Click the profile avatar in the top right corner and select API from the dropdown menu

  4. Select Personal Access Tokens

  5. Enter Fellow.app as the token name and click Create

  6. Copy the value of the Personal Access Token - it will be a 64-character string

Note: If the API option isn't visible in the profile dropdown, contact your Namely administrator or Namely Customer Success representative for assistance.

Step 2: Send the details to Fellow

Once you have the report URL and Personal Access Token ready, open a support request with the Fellow team by clicking the blue chat bubble in the bottom right corner of your screen. Include the following:

  • The URL of the report generated in Namely

  • The Personal Access Token created for API access

The Fellow team will verify the report URL and confirm that all required fields are present. Once verified, the nightly sync will be configured to automatically pull data from your Namely report and keep your Fellow workspace up to date.

If you have any questions at any point in this process, reach out via the blue chat bubble and the Fellow team will be happy to help.
